Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI, announced his resignation from the company
He was one of the board members who insisted on firing Sam Altman, the media claimed.

Ilya Sutzkever was the chief scientist at OpenAI. He wrote about his decision in X (former Twitter) and thanked the company's management and colleagues for working together. After leaving the company, Sutzkever will develop a project that is “very important to him personally,” he did not disclose details.
Jakub Pachocki will be the new research director at OpenAI. He led the development of GPT-4 and OpenAI Five.
In November 2023, the board of directors fired Sam Altman as CEO. According to media sources, it was Sutzkever who played one of the key roles in Altman's dismissal. The Verge speculated that two sides of the company clashed: product and scientific.
Employees received two explanations from Ilya Sutzkever: allegedly Sam “gave two people the same project” and gave two board members opposing opinions about one of the employees.
505 of OpenAI's 700 employees threatened to move to Microsoft if the board didn't resign, and Sutzkever admitted he regretted being involved in the board's actions. Four days after the decision, OpenAI said it would bring Sam Altman back as CEO.
